Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor
Substances or mixtures that are suitable concentration in a system and present in metal / corrosive environment, decrease very sensitive to metal corrosion rate in half.
The VCI has the property to sublimate so the vapors are transported by convection-diffusion to all parts of the surfaces, forming an invisible protective film on the molecular level. It takes a certain concentration of vapors in order to attain an equilibrium (saturation) within the system part / package. See illustration.
